Across the world, many tragic genocides and massacres are remembered through films, documentaries, and vibrant conversations—events like the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide, the Rwandan and Cambodian genocides, the atrocities against Native Americans, and many others have rightly taken their place in our collective memory.
Yet, the deep wounds inflicted upon our nation by centuries of repeated invasions and colonial rule remain largely unspoken and forgotten. It is time for us, as proud inheritors of India’s rich heritage, to awaken to the truth of our past—not to nurture bitterness, but to draw strength from the lessons of history and unite as one.
Our ancestors endured devastating assaults: from Mahmud of Ghazni’s plundering of sacred temples, the destruction of Nalanda and other centers of learning under the Delhi Sultanate, Timur’s brutal invasions, the devastating Mughal persecutions, the Portuguese Inquisition’s cultural eradication in Goa, to the economic exploitation and human tragedies under British colonial rule—including Jallianwala Bagh and countless other sacrifices.
These relentless waves of violence aimed not only to seize wealth and power but also to dismantle our cultural soul—our temples, scholars, artisans, and knowledge systems were shattered, leaving scars still felt today. Yet, in the face of such adversity, resilient leadership restored India’s glory in a remarkably short time, and today, India stands tall and matters globally.
Let us not idolize those who sought to break us but honor the spirit of those who endured. Let us unite with the fire of inner realization—of the pain, loss, and strength that define our journey. Together, by facing our past with courage and pride, we can build a future where India’s heritage and greatness flourish evermore.
Jai Hind.
